About Iron Mountain

Founded in 1951, Iron Mountain established its roots in document management, storage and data backup. Over the years the company has amassed over 64 million square feet of real estate in 1,000 facilities spread across 35 countries. This includes a highly secure underground facility in Boyers, Pennsylvania that is acquired several years ago. Publicly traded under NYSE symbol IRM, Iron Mountain is an S&P 500 company, a member of the FORTUNE 1000 (currently ranked: 730), and a member of FTSE4Good index. Organizations in every major industry and of all sizes-- including more than 94% of the Fortune 1000-- rely on Iron Mountain to store and manage their information. The company formally launched its datacenter business in April 2013, but it has actually been providing datacenter space in Boyers and Kansas City for more than 10 years. Its customers have been mostly government agencies, but one customer in hospitality, Marriott International, has leased 12,500 SF in Boyers as a disaster recovery site since 2008. Over the past year, Iron Mountain launched its new datacenter in Boston. It also announced that it achieved REIT status. Iron Mountain offers a dedicated, secure space similar to a typical wholesale offering. Customers can also opt for shared space in smaller increments, which appeals to the retail colocation market. Additional services include data migration, installation and remote hands, secure network services, tape sorage and secure IT asset disposal. The company is partnering with Seagate to offer cloud server backup and disaster recovery. Iron Mountain has stated that it plans to build datacenters on sites that it owns around the country, though the next locations have not yet been announced.
